Welcome to Coastal Recruiting’s weekly roundup of the top engineers we’re working with – as a reminder, Coastal starts working with companies at the Seed/Series A stage – helping them build their engineering teams. From Founding Engineer to Staff/Principal Engineers, we help Founders + CTO’s hire across the stack.

Our team got back to LA late last night from a trip to SF – meeting with several of our Series A clients innovating in AI and VC partners. As much as I love being ‘locked in the lab’ working from home, nothing can beat being in person with clients, colleagues and partners (esp when you realize you’re totally wrong about someone’s height when meeting IRL🤣).

Regardless of startup stage, the majority of our clients have a strong preference for candidates with previous 0-1 experience – the profiles in this week’s newsletter all have founding / early experience and are actively looking for a small team to join where they can have ownership, ship/iterate quickly, and work cross-functionally.

Founding Engineer 

• She’s a Founding Engineer at a Series A startup with early engineering experience at multiple startups

• Bachelor's Degree in CS from Brown and Kleiner Perkins Fellow

• She’s looking for onsite work in NYC 

Founding Engineer (AI)

• BS in Computer Science from MIT and Masters of Engineering in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from MIT

• Founder of YC backed company in the AI search and Chat space.

• Previously, head of engineering at a start-up that was acquired.

Founding Engineer 

• Currently, working as Senior Software Engineer at Rippling

• Computer Science degree from Rice University

• Previously, served as Sr. SWE for a firm that lead a number of seed stage investments and was instrumental in helping to build out their infra

• Spent 3+ years at Amazon as a backend eng

Founding Engineer (AI + web3)

• Currently Founding Engineer at crypto-wallet startup (backed by T1 investors)

• Previous Founding Engineering experience and started his own company in college

• Strong full-stack engineer who can work across the stack; currently working in Typescript across the stack where he creates a lot of integrations for wallets, social login mechanisms, and does a lot of backend infrastructure

• 10/10 personality fit - looking to join early-stage startup in AI or web3 where he can be closer to product decisions and end-customers
